Welcome to our Meribel Skiing Guide
Here you will find all sorts of holiday information about Skiing in Meribel and the 3 Valleys. Please remember if you've any questions about any of this then don't hesitate to get in touch - we'll always be glad to help.
If you love to ski Meribel is the place for you
Why is it that so many die-hard skiers keep Meribel at the top of their list of places to ski (again)? There's a question! We could talk for hours about why we love the place and think it's one of the best ski resorts in the world, but we'll try and keep it concise and to a reasonable length!
Firstly, Why the 3 Valleys?
As one of the best ski areas in the world, skiing the Three Valleys is on any keen skier's to do list. The sheer scale and variety here is mind blowing. With 600kms of pistes, you'll find there's whole areas of it you'll not touch once in a week-long holiday.
There is plenty of variety here as well. Wide cruising blues and reds, the intermediate's paradise, connect the whole area and you can tour village to village.
For the advanced the lift-accessible off-piste here draws skiers from the world over. With the great terrain comes the lessons and guides you need as well. If you'd like to have an off-piste clinic or join a group with a qualified guide then there'll be plenty going on for you.
The ski lift infrastructure is world-leading. You'll find the lifts here get you up the mountain quicker with the vast majority being high-speed ski lifts. The resorts are also very well connected with lift and ski runs making the whole 600kms accessible to you (though we'd be very impressed if you managed to do more than scratching the surface of exploring it all during your week's catered chalet holiday!)
There's also a great altitude range. The ski area includes Val Thorens, the highest ski resort in Europe. The skiing goes up to 3200m giving you excellent snow conditions all season long. So whenever you book your holiday, you'll be in for a great time with excellent skiing conditions. There's also lower, tree lined skiing to give you clarity on the snowy days and more variety of skiing.
Secondly, Why Meribel?
We've created a whole section about Meribel Centre for you to learn more, so we'll keep this brief here.
There are a range of resorts within the Three Valleys, so which one to pick for your holiday depends on your own preferences. Village-wise, Meribel is a charming mix of chalets and small hotels, it's lively without being too loud or in your face, and it still retains Savoyard charms. It's a pleasing mix all around. So if you are after a well balanced resort then it's worth considering as your 3 Valleys base.
From a skiing point of view it's ideal. Meribel is the central valley, so gives you the best access to the whole area. Based at 1500m, within a lift or two you can be on top of the world at the very high altitude skiing, or you can stay within the tree runs that are right on your door. Meribel puts all of what the 3 Valleys has to offer right on your doorstep.
We will leave it there (we could go on for hours!), but just to say that if you are not sure if Meribel would be right for you then please don't hesitate to get in touch. We'd be more than happy to chat you through Meribel's own particular strengths so you can decide if it's right for you.
