Christmas Oat Slice

Christmas Oat Slice Recipe From the Delicious Mountain Chalet Company

A guest called Belinda who stayed in the chalet very reluctantly gave us the recipe for date slice one year. I slightly changed it to a Christmassy version which I am really happy with. It is another winner for wrapping up in cling film and taking in your backpack for the mountain too


1. Pre-heat the oven to 190°C

2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, oats and butter until well combined

3. Take half of the oat mixture and press it down into a smooth layer in the prepared tin

4. Mix the mincemeat with the orange zest

5. Spoon the mincemeat over the oats in the tin

6. Press the reaming oat mixture evenly over the top of the mincemeat

7. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 25 minutes until golden, leave to cool in the tin on a cooling rack before cutting into slices or squares
